Biography



Being always fascinated by Oriental art, she draws inspiration for her creations from cultural diversity and her various trips. Elenashirin has travelled for many years following a specific approach.
Her artistic expression addresses a personal search that aims at highlighting interpersonal relationships between people, with an eye wide open onto the feminine side.
Metamorphosis, development and the many changes encountered by women are the focus of her art projects.
Painting and photography are her favourite media to express her emotions.
In her portraits transformation, change and the use of symbols evoke ancient writings and signs.

Elenashirin lives and works in Ticino, the Southern part of Switzerland.
After attaining the Applied Decorative Arts diploma at the CSIA (College for the Artistic Industry) in Lugano, she continued her education to obtain the Art teacher diploma, under the guidance of professors Nag Arnoldi, Milo Cleis, Piergiorgio Piffaretti, Bruno Monguzzi, Gianni Realini, Livio Bernasconi and Giuliano Togni. She taught in Swiss colleges for a period of 10 years.
For some years Elenashirin collaborated with the fashion and theatre industry in Switzerland and Italy.
She has been involved in collaborations with the world of street theatre and performances in Italy and in the United Kingdom.

Recent research and photography trips to Mali (Africa), Gujarat & Rajasthan (India) & to Japan have infused the artist's creative concept of expression basing her artistic  development on both countries' human realities. As a consequence, the direction taken by Elenashirin is that of working with elements of those different artistic and cultural traditions, which highly influence and inform her research. Collaborations and exchanges with local Indian artists and craftspeople have consolidated her intention of returning to the country.
Thus, During the monsoon season she attended traditional Indian miniature painting classes under Master Rekha Dwivedi.

Following a first trip to Japan during fall 2010 and a second visit during Sakura 2011, a time when the country experienced the worst tragedy in its history since World War II, Elenashirin has felt immensely influenced and motivated to come close to such human reality; one extremely rich in history, traditions and sensitivity.

Da sempre affascinata dall'arte orientale, trae ispirazione per il suo lavoro dalle diversità culturali.
Predilige la pittura e la fotografia per esprimere le sue emozioni.
Nei suoi ritratti la trasformazione, il cambiamento e l'uso di simboli evocano scritture e segni del passato.

Dopo essersi diplomata in Arti Decorative presso il CSIA (Centro Scolastico per le Industrie Artistiche) di Lugano, continua gli studi conseguendo il Diploma di Docente di Educazione Visiva sotto la guida di Nag Arnoldi, Milo Cleis, Piergiorgio Piffaretti, Bruno Monguzzi, Gianni Realini, Livio Bernasconi e di Giuliano Togni.
Insegna per 10 anni presso le scuole medie obbligatorie.
Collabora per alcuni anni con il mondo della moda e dello spettacolo in Svizzera e Italia.
Per anni ha collaborato con il mondo del teatro di strada.

A seguito di un primo viaggio in Giappone durante l'autunno 2010 e di una seconda visita durante il periodo della Sakura 2011, momento in cui il Giappone è stato sconvolto dalla più terribile tragedia che abbia mai scosso il paese dalla Seconda guerra mondiale, Elenashirin si è sentita particolarmente influenzata e motivata ad avvicinarsi a questa realtà, ricca di storia, tradizioni e dalla spiccata sensibilità umana.
